This was done from a photo taken in St. Martin.  The colors here are different from those in Northern regions.
I accentuated the blue tones, and there's a lot of turquoise.  Unfortunately, the island natives resent being photographed.  They don't understand that I see only beauty in their "slice of life".

As I was playing "guide" to my sister, who had come from Lebanon on a visit, I stumbled upon this delightful Boston scene.  As usual, I had my camera at hand.  Markets in various parts of the world portray different colors and culture.  People in Boston dress differently, stand differently, display their wares differently from those in the Caribbean or Europe.  I often don't realize how different they really are until I paint them.

I had been painting all morning, but didn't feel like quitting, so I decided to paint something small.  Looking through my photos for inspiration, I came upon one I had taken on the island of St. Martin.  I painted this scene quickly and without fear.  This was my first market scene, and it's still my favorite.
